FIRS Boss, Tunde Fowler, Named Among 50 Most Influential Tax Personalities in the World


Nigeria's Federal Inland Revenue Boss, Tunde Fowler, has been named one of the 50 most influential tax personalities and institutions in the world by the International Tax Review.

This comes after his appointment to the 25 member United Nations Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Matters as the first vice chairman.

The chairman who was the former FIRS boss in Lagos, continued his streak of success at  Federal level when he generated N3.3tn in tax revenue in 2016. 

The award which was given based on it's Global Tax 50 2017 review, commended him for sensitising Nigerians on the need to pay tax  through the media and other channels .
 He was also commended for using technology to introduce products like the electronic tax clearance certificate and electronic notification of payment of withholding tax credit notes in the  nation's tax collection drive.
